History

Millard County Credit Union (MCCU) was founded in July 1956 as M.E.A. (Millard Educators Association) Credit Union – a state-chartered credit union in Utah. The original membership base consisted of employees of Millard County School District, their associations, members of their immediate families, and local businesses. In 1982, the Utah Department of Financial Institutions agreed to amend the Bylaws, changing the name to Millard County Credit Union and expanding the limited membership to all residents of Millard County, Utah. From that small operation, we have grown to a membership of over 4,500, with assets over $60 million.

Millard County Credit Union is a member-owned and operated credit union committed to providing the best and most up-to-date services along with excellent customer service. Offering a variety of services with little to no fees, including savings and checking accounts, overdraft protection, business accounts, debit cards, Visa Credit Cards, and various loan options, the credit union is dedicated to improving the quality of service for its members and residents of Millard County. Originally organized by a group of working-class individuals in 1956, the credit union has since expanded its field of membership to include all Millard County residents. Members can expect to be treated as equal owners and receive personalized, quality financial services to help them achieve personal financial success. Family members living in Utah are also eligible for membership, and once joined, members can remain for life.

The Credit Union Difference

A credit union is a not-for-profit organization providing a range of financial services. There are over 4,500 credit unions in the United States with more than 140 million members. Credit unions are owned and controlled by the members and managed by a volunteer board of directors.

Membership is limited to groups of people having a common occupation or association. Their purpose is to promote thrift among the members and make credit readily available. With no stockholders, credit union profits are repaid to the members through higher savings rates, lower loan rates, lower fees, and free services.

Board of Directors

The elected Board of Directors represents all credit union members to maintain fiscal safety and soundness, set strategic direction, ensure regulatory compliance, hire the CEO, establish the CEO's goals and objectives, and oversee the CEO's performance.

The Board of Directors are volunteers elected by our membership to ensure that the credit union is doing everything it should and fulfilling its goals, while operating in an ethical, prudent, and fiscally sound way. The Board of Directors is our governing body.
